MaryAnn McGovern began producing work in 2009 with MaryAnn McGovern and Dancers. In 2011, she relocated to Seattle where she received The Bridge Project residency at Velocity Dance Center, and was a selected artist for eXit Space’s BOOST Dance Festival. While studying in the M.F.A. program in Dance and Choreography at Mills College, MaryAnn was awarded a short residency as a part of The Garage’s RAW Artist Series in San Francisco. MaryAnn returned to Chicago in 2015 and was a recipient of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events Individual Artist Grant for the development of The Dancer’s Cooperative, the company under which she now produces her work. McGovern is a Certified Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst under the Integrated Movement Studies program. She received her B.A. in Dance from Columbia College Chicago.
In addition to making work, MaryAnn has had the privilege of performing for Chicago choreographers Peter Carpenter, Lisa Gonzales, JulieAnn Graham, and Julia Mayer. She has taught children and adults in and around Chicago and Seattle.
